Humanizing Healthcare
The Power of Patient Integration
Patient-integrated education seeks to humanize healthcare and increase empathy across all stakeholders.
We seek to facilitate meaningful connections, inspire compassion, and integrate patient perspectives into evidence-based, shared decision-making with HCPs,
to elevate the standard of care and reinforce the purpose of healthcare to improve lives.
We will integrate people's lived experiences into healthcare education to empower the care team to be champions of the patient's journey, supporting them to live their life as they wish.

"The good physician treats the disease; the great physician treats the person who has the disease"
Sir William Osler (1849-1919), Baronet, MD, FRS, FRCP:
One of the "Big Four" founding physicians of Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore, Maryland, United States – often described as the Father of Modern Medicine

One of my patients challenged me…
“There are 525,600 minutes in a year, you see me for about 50, less than 0.01% of my year. So, who’s the real expert in my diabetes? Surely me, not you.”
As clinicians, we hold knowledge of the latest treatments, but the person in front of us lives their condition every day.If our advice isn’t aligned with the right stage in their life story, it won’t be as impactful.
So, we need to make sure that person’s voice, that patient’s voice, is integral to everything we do in healthcare education.
